Alan Wake 2 New Game+ Mode Coming Soon

December 4, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Get ready to replay Alan Wake 2.

Alan Wake 2 was a game that Remedy Entertainment had attempted to bring out for years. Long after Alan Wake was first released, the developers finally got a proper sequel out into the marketplace. Fans have enjoyed the game, and it did well with critics. However, if you finished the title and are looking for another reason to return to this game world again, Remedy Entertainment will give you one this month. However, we’re still waiting for the dates to arrive for their next update.

Remedy Entertainment unveiled that a New Game Plus mode is coming soon. This came out just a few days ago on the official Alan Wake X social media account. So, in case you missed it, the Alan Wake 2 video game will have an update. The post confirms that a New Game Plus mode is coming as we enter the new month. However, beyond that, we haven’t received any official dates as to when this New Game Plus mode will be available. Likewise, it would be nice to know what this New Game Plus mode will entail, as some games can do things differently.

Overall, if you’re unfamiliar with New Game Plus, this game mode can be added to games post-launch. It’s another way to incentivize players to stick around with the game title a bit longer. So rather than finishing the campaign and putting the game up on your shelf, or in the case of Alan Wake 2, in your digital library, New Game Plus could give you a reason to replay the campaign. Most often, several of your progressions will carry over onto the next run. So, various unlocks and ability upgrades remain while some new exclusive content can be unlocked, along with facing even more challenging enemies.

We’re still waiting for more details to emerge as to what New Game Plus entails for Alan Wake 2. However, it’s now readily available if you haven’t played the base game campaign yet. The sequel takes place several years after the events of Alan Wake, and while the first game had horror elements, Alan Wake 2 is a full survival horror experience. Players will find that the game will split up their time between Alan Wake, who is striving to break free into the real world, and a new FBI agent named Saga. Saga has been tasked with visiting Bright Falls to uncover the truth behind a series of ritualistic killings. However, you’ll have to play the campaign to see how these two character storylines intertwine.

Alan Wake 2 is available to pick up today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. However, this game is a digital release only, so there are no physical copies that can be purchased. With that said, if you want a bit more insight into the game and our impressions, then we do have a Before You Buy video coverage, which you can view in the video we have embedded below.
