Trials Evolution Developer Denies Torrenting its Own Game

January 31, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

RedLynx denies using BitTorrent to promote its own game.

RedLynx, an Ubisoft-owned development studio based in Finland, was accused of leaking its own game to the Pirate Bay.

The studio, which developed Trials Evolution, was accused of using BitTorrent to spread the popularity of their game due to their track record of having done so in the past.

According to TorrentFreak, RedLynx CEO Tero Virtala had admitted to taking advantage of piracy by uplaoding their previous Trials game in 2009.

“What we did actually, on day one, we put [the PC edition of Trials] immediately on all the torrent networks ourselves,” he said.

Speaking to Develop Online, Virtala denies the charge that they did the same thing for Trials Evolution this time around.

“We want to be clear that [leaking Trials Evolution] is not something we did ourselves,” he said.
