God of War 4 Leaks Potentially Put Kratos in Norse Mythology

April 4, 2016 by Mitchell Saltzman

An industry insider tweeted out a pair of tweets that might shed light on Kratos’ next adventure

[Editor’s Note: The original source of the leaked images, NerdLeaks.com, is currently offline with a message that reads “Don’t leak anything more. You’re advised.”]

With the Greek Pantheon all but left in shambles, it looks like Kratos might be setting his sights Norse.

Earlier today, infamous industry insider Shinobi602 shared a pair of tweets indicating that he might have the scoop on some details surrounding the next God of War.

In Norse mythology, Valhalla is the name of the great hall where fallen warriors who died nobly in battle were brought to live out their afterlife. There they serve Odin and await the day to fight and die alongside the Gods during Ragnarok.

Sounds like a pretty badass setting for a God of War game, no?

Nerd Leaks did some digging and uncovered a collection of concept art images that seem to back Shinobi’s tweets, featuring a bearded Kratos, some clearly Norse inspired architecture, a jungle setting, and a new weapon for Kratos to wield: An axe.

The leaked concept art is said to have come from the website of a concept artist who recently worked at Sony Santa Monica, in an “illusory” private section.

Sony has been quiet about the existence of God of War 4, but rumors have been buzzing about the existence of a new title that tackles the Norse pantheon ever since 2011.

One thing’s almost for certain: With the ten year anniversary of God of War approaching in 2017, one would have to imagine that it won’t be long until we learn some more concrete information about Kratos’ next adventure. Perhaps E3 2016? Only time will tell.
