After months of silence regarding Outlast 2, it looks like Red Barrels is back to their cryptic teasing ways.
A new video entitled “Jude 1:14-15” was uploaded to the Red Barrels YouTube account that plays a haunting message, spoken by the same religious zealot from the first teaser, only the message is in reverse.
I went ahead and reversed the video to reveal the transcript, which is as follows:
“Children, you lovers of God and defenders of his paradise. All of our years of suffering come together now in this glorious day of peace. PEACE! Even in the corrupt and filthy tug(?) of the Romans in the Puritan city. On the fourth month and 22nd day of the sixteenth year of the third millennium, our reckoning begins. This spider-eyed land waits at the harlots breach, hungry for this world. Ready or not. For the good earth thirsts for blood and we, lively angels, must show no mercy. God loves you.”
Heavy stuff. Outlast 2 is currently scheduled for a release in Fall 2016, so the April 22nd date mentioned in the message will likely be the date where we can expect some more substantial information regarding the sequel to one of the scariest games in recent memory.
The little that we do know of Outlast 2 confirms that the setting will be very different from the first game, which took place in an insane asylum where all kinds of nasty experiments were going down. Outlast 2 promises to “test our faith,” and push players to the point where going mad is the only sane thing to do.
