EA Sports FC 24 Officially Announced, Livestream Event Slated On July 13

July 11, 2023 by Ryan Parreno

EA’s “whole different game” brings together all the other football leagues, men’s and women’s alike.

EA has revealed the official announcement trailer of EA Sports FC 24.

And the big question is answered. The big replacement for FIFA as EA’s football association partner is, well, pretty much every other football association out there. Both men’s and women’s football is also well represented here, a surprising development that other football game franchises have yet to match.

As revealed in the press release, courtesy GoNintendo, among the football associations coming to EA Sports FC 24 are Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Women’s Champions League, La Liga Santander, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Serie A, CONMEBOL Libertadores, Barclays Women’s Super League, and NWSL.

For non-football fans, this raises the number of playable athletes up to potentially 7 or 8 FIFA rosters. We’re not sure how this will exactly work out – is it possible only some teams from some associations will be part of the game? Or did EA Sports really go for broke and add in an unprecedented number of athletes? Some teams do play across different associations, but that hardly simplifies matters.

If they went for the latter, for better or not, that may have been justified by EA’s plans for monetization. As reported by The Gamer a few months ago, leaks suggest that FIFA Ultimate Team is carrying over into EA Sports FC 24 as the redesigned Dynamic Packs. Make no mistake, if the rumor is true, these are still lootboxes, geared to make you want to spend more.

Even with that taken into account, there’s a potential large amount of ambition here for the potentially gigantic roster that EA Sports FC 24 could have. EA is going to address those questions as well.

As they have revealed in this press release via Businesswire, EA will host a special livestream on July 13, 2023, at 9:30 AM PT. EA will announce the cover athlete on that date, but hopefully, they will also bring light to all these other questions we have about the new game as well.

For now, EA Sports FC 24 has no announced platforms or release date. It is mostly likely coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Origin, but it is very much possible that it will also come to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and even mobile platforms as well. FIFA games were part of EA Play, and therefore part of Ultimate Game Pass, so it’s highly likely that EA Sports FC 24 will be part of the Ultimate Game Pass subscription as well.
