EA Officially Reveals A Black Panther Video Game

July 10, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Protect Wakanda.

The line of Marvel video games is constantly being buffed up, and today, we’re finding out that a new Black Panther title is coming out. EA officially revealed this project today, announcing that the title is coming from a new AAA development studio. Based in Seattle, the development team behind this upcoming project will be Cliffhanger Games. With the studio being led by Kevin Stephens, formally from Monolith Productions, Cliffhanger Games is hopeful that their line of talented staff will provide an authentic and definitive Black Panther experience.

Black Panther has certainly blown up in popularity thanks to the cinematic universe from Marvel’s Comics, and now it looks like we’ll get a story-driven video game experience. Details are incredibly scarce right now as the announcement didn’t come with any media assets. So we don’t have any videos or images to browse over to get an idea of what the game will be like. However, we do know that the studio is full of staff that have previously worked on other big AAA video game projects. According to the EA blog post revealing the title, Cliffhanger Games has staff that worked on Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Halo Infinite, God of War, and Call of Duty.

But we’ll likely have to wait a good while before we can get a better idea of what the studio has done with this IP. As the blog post mentions, the studio is still very early in development with this upcoming Black Panther video game. So they have a long road ahead of them, but it seems that gives the studio more time to ensure they build a diverse team to help chart out a thrilling and memorable Black Panther campaign.

We’re dedicated to delivering fans a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game. Wakanda is a rich SuperHero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do.

Again, with no details on a release date or even a launch window, we’ll be waiting for information to come out. So we can’t list this title for any specific platforms quite yet. Furthermore, we’ll continue to keep an eye out for any new information that emerges online for this upcoming project.
