Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Preload Time And Date Revealed

July 5, 2023 by Ryan Parreno

It’s curious that this game doesn’t have a demo.

We now know the preload date and time for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

As reported by PSU, the updated listing for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on the PlayStation 5 store now indicates a preload date of October 13, 2023, at 6 AM PT.

As of this moment, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the only major title left on the PlayStation 5’s release schedule for the year.

Because of this, Insomniac’s latest foray into Marvel movies has been getting a lot of hype in the past few months. Even before the official promotional push, fans have been trying to squeeze as much details as they can from as many sources as they can, mostly, the game’s actors.

But Insomniac has started speaking up about the game, revealing that it will take a darker direction than the previous game. Interestingly enough, we are well aware that Venom will also be a part of the game, and that it will reexplore part of the black suit storyline, but the Venom in this video game will not be Eddie Brock.

Now, to be clear, it is not unheard of for other characters to play Venom. While we have only seen Eddie Brock’s Venom in the movies and cartoons, in the comics the symbiote has bonded with many different personalities.

The most famous second host for the symbiote is likely Flash Thompson. A childhood friend of Spider-Man, Flash decides he wants to become a superhero himself, and uses the suit in his work as a US secret agent.

Next to him would be Mac Gargan, who was the original man who called himself the Scorpion. In this capacity, Mac used the suit for his own ends, but he barely had control. The symbiote would even make him cannibalistic, though Mac was ultimately so weak willed that he would lose a fight to Eddie, and separately, to Hulk’s teenage daughter, and eventually, would lose the suit.

The Venom suit has even been worn by women before, albeit briefly, so Insomniac has a lot of material to work with on their twist to this Venom storyline.

Now it is noteworthy that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 won’t have a demo. The presumed reason is that Insomniac is confident enough in the game’s status and name recognition that it will sell regardless, but it’s still a curious choice for such an important title.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for release on October 20, 2023 exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
