Video games plus dogs is a tried and true Internet success model, popular on social media channels the world over. Sensing this, Iams and the CW network have this year awarded Dogmeat or rather, his real life actor River, a top award at the World Dog Awards for her work in Fallout 4 as the motion capture model Dogmeat is based on.
For the Top Video Game Dog award, River was given a golden fire hydrant trophy, which was posted today on the Bethesda Twitter feed in celebration of River’s achievement. As you can see she also wore a dapper blue handkerchief for the occasion. Truly, she is a Vault Dweller’s best friend.

Fallout fans the world over already knew that Dogmeat is the very best dog to ever grace a video game but we’ll take the validation all the same. Dogmeat isn’t just a companion in Fallout 4 but also one of the many potential trusty sidekicks in the game’s predecessor Fallout 3. He’s also an homage to the first Dogmeat to grace the series from the original Fallout game, who also made an appearance in Fallout 2. There are few constants in the Fallout series but Dogmeat is definitely one of them.
As for Fallout 4, the game’s first DLC chapter, the robot adventure Automatron, is set to release on March 22 across all platforms. A new patch fixing several bugs and adding new decor items to the workshop was also recently issued. To read up on that and more Fallout 4 news be sure to hit up the Gameranx site tag.
