I have a real soft spot for the Dynasty Warriors series despite quite a vocal group who don't understand the series' appeal. It remains very popular though, so its good news for myself and for thousands of others when a new game is announced. And that's exactly what happened this morning, via the official Dynasty Warriors 7 Twitter.
The translation, courtesy of Andriasang, is something like: "Work started yesterday. We'd like to make a big announcement this year… by the end of the year." This is likely to be one of two things, either Dynasty Warriors 7 Empires or Dynasty Warriors 8; if the former it doesn't particularly make sense for it to be announced at the end of the year, so close to the two year anniversary of the base game, if the latter it seems a little early for another numbered sequel.
My bet is on some sort of spin-off but with no information to go on at this point, I'm not going to even hazard a guess. With the way things have been going for Koei lately, I wouldn't be entirely surprised (or disappointed) by Pokemon Warriors.
