Myst is Heading to the 3DS

December 30, 2011 by Lyle Smith

Play the classic game again, this March.

Maximum Family Games announced that Myst 3D will be hitting shelves in March of 2012, which I think is a perfect fit for the portable 3D system. This iteration of Myst will be a remake with enhanced visuals and will also include the Rime Age, which wasn’t packaged with the original PC version.

"Myst is expected to be a big hit with Nintendo 3DS players," said President of MFG, Len Ciciretto. "It takes everything we all know and love about the Myst series and gives it a 3D facelift."

Myst has players take on the role of the Stranger, who uses a magical book to travel to the island of Myst.

"The original Myst for PC systems was a groundbreaking game that brought the fantasy-adventure genre to mainstream casual gaming," added Ciciretto. "The new Myst honors that history by reintroducing this well-known franchise to younger generations."

Myst 3D will be available on March 27, 2012.
