Take a Look at the Tekken 8’s Official Roster Art So Far

December 13, 2022 by John McDonald

Somebody got a new wardrobe.

Tekken 8 was officially revealed at this year’s Game Awards

The Tekken franchise is quite the popular one, and after months and months of teasing and wondering, Tekken 8 was revealed at The Game Awards 2022 last week, and a lot of details were announced. But something that has just been revealed is Tekken 8’s official roster art of confirmed characters.

The Game Awards 2022 revealed a new Tekken 8 trailer and what the story would be about. And although we did see a glimpse of a few different characters, Bandai Namco wanted to show the official character portraits for the eight confirmed characters of Tekken 8’s official roster. They are Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishimi, Jun Kazama, Jack-8, Marshall Law, Lars Alexandersson, Paul Phoenix, and King.

As you can see from the above images, there’s a lot going on with these characters. First up is the main visual which is of Jin and Kazuya, as the father and son seem to be wearing new outfits. Kazuya also seems to be sporting some very lovely wing-like shadows and a blazing chain, which could hint at something with the story.

What these styles, and the limited details we have already, could suggest is that this could very well be the final battle between Jin and his father-of-the-year contender. Could Jin finally be breaking the chains of his family’s violent past? It will all be revealed at some point.

These two aren’t the only characters with a makeover though, as it looks like the other six have a new wardrobe too, and in Paul’s case, a lack of a barber. As you can see with Jun, who was revealed in the trailer as not being dead like we all assumed, we get a full insight into her look – she was mostly hidden by light in the trailer.

Something else of interest is how both Jin and Lars seem to have adopted Jun’s white and black color schemes, which could suggest an alliance of sorts. Marshall Law has become even more ripped and Paul, well, he’s gone for the unkempt look and lost his famed flat top, something he’s had in every game apart from Tekken 4, and we know how that game turned out. Jack-8 is sporting some new fluorescent armor as well, while the others look largely the same but with some minor differences.

One thing that wasn’t revealed was a release date, so don’t be looking at us for one because we don’t know, but let’s see what happens this time next year.
