Spintires Developer Denies Sabotage Claims, Fix Already Submitted

Mar 3, 2016 Ryan Parreno

Pavel Zagrebelnyj and Oovee have both shared follow up statements explaining their side.

Pavel Zagrebelnyj and Oovee have shared follow up statements explaining their sides regarding recent issues surrounding truck simulator Spintires.

Yesterday, we reported on Spintires‘ unfixed bugs, and claims that a time bomb has been entered in the game’s code, making it unplayable after a set period of time. Pavel responded  by denying these claims. In his words:

“…I would never do something that would affect the gamers! In fact I do my best to make sure the game only brings joy to whoever plays it.”

Pavel goes on to say that he is not sure why rumors of sabotage and a time bomb arose. He does explain that the game does a time-check as part of anti-piracy measures, and that a bug in this function is what is causing gamers’ copies of Spintires to become unplayable. Pavel already finished a bug fix for this and has submitted it to Steam.

Pavel continues to corroborate earlier claims that publisher Oovee has yet to compensate him properly for work done, and is also pointing to Oovee for why the bug fix has not been published to Steam yet.

On their end, Oovee has completely refuted earlier reports. They say they were aware of the bug since last week and were working with Pavel on a fix. They have delayed the next major update to handle this bug, and are currently testing the fix themselves. Oovee promises to explain in further detail after the issue has been taken care of.

Will you be waiting for Oovee to publish the official bug fix for Spintires? Did you use the unofficial patch created by fans yesterday? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
