Solve your Max Payne Sound Issues!

December 20, 2011 by Mat Growcott

May Payne is currently at an unmissable price on Steam, but the sound issues on Windows Vista and 7 are annoying. Here’s the solution!

If you, like me, bought the Max Payne bundle for an amazing £2.50 (insert Mickey Mouse money equivalents here) in the Steam Christmas sale then you're probably glowing from a job well done, a deal well purchased; then you fire up the first game, headphones on, and realise that things aren't as they should be. There are sound issues that just ruin the game.

If you're a Vista or 7 user, this story may be familiar. It used to be that you would have to unpackage bits of the game, play around with the music files, repackage and hope for the best. Not the case now with this easy as pie .bat file. Just download, unrar the file to your Max Payne file (c:/program files/steam/steamapps/common/Max Payne/ is that standard I believe), click on the file and wait the five minutes till completion.

I can personally guarantee that this works, my only confusion is as to why on earth these two games aren't in the top sells – it's an awesome deal.

Download the file here.
