Hades 2 Announced At The Game Awards

December 8, 2022 by Odhran Johnson
Supergiant Games surprised everyone with the announcement of Hades II. A press release for the game reads “Meet the Princess of the Underworld in Hades 2, the bewitching sequel to our award-winning rogue-like dungeon crawler. Details about Early Access coming in 2023.”

The original Hades won numerous awards upon its full release in 2020 including Best Indie and Best Action game at The Game Awards 2020. Alongside this, the original title was nominated for 10 different awards at The Game Awards 2020 including Game of the Year.

The announcement comes completely out of the blue but Supergiant fans will not be complaining. Many speculated that a possible DLC could come to the game but the announcement of a fully-fledged sequel is exciting, to say the least. The sequels Steam page reads “battle beyond the Underworld using dark sorcery to take on the Titan of Time in this bewitching sequel to the award-winning rogue-like dungeon crawler.”

The next entry in the Hades series will bring back fan-favorite gods and introduce some brand-new ones. You’ll “meet a cast of dozens of fully-voiced, larger-than-life characters, including plenty of new faces and some old friends. Grow closer to them through a variety of new interactions, and experience countless unique story events based on how your journey unfolds.”

New characters aren’t the only things making their way to the game though. New locations, challenges, upgrade systems, and many more surprises are scheduled for Hades 2. The Steam page reads: “Reveal the mysteries of the Arcana Altar, tame witchy familiars, and gather reagents using Tools of the Unseen to get closer to your goal.”

Fans of Supergiant Games already know they can expect a rich story, an amazing atmosphere, absolutely stunning scenery, and a beautifully elaborate combat system. Alongside combat, Hades 2 will allow you to master witchcraft and dark sorcery. The Steam page reads: “Infuse your legendary weapons of Night with ancient magick, so that none may stand in your way. Become stronger still with powerful Boons from more than a dozen Olympian gods, from Apollo to Zeus. There are nearly limitless ways to build your abilities.”

Hades 2 is set to enter Early Access in 2023. Needless to say, I think everyone is hyped up for this one.

If you’re looking to give the original Hades a go before the Early Access launch of Hades 2 in 2023, Hades is currently available on macOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
