Star Wars Galaxy Gone Forever

December 19, 2011 by Elizabeth DeLoria

Well, it’s been fun, Star Wars Galaxies, but it’s time to say goodbye… not that anyone really notices with Old Republic being the hot new thing, but it’s the thought that counts.

Well, it’s been fun, Star Wars Galaxies, but it’s time to say goodbye… not that anyone really notices with Old Republic being the hot new thing, but it’s the thought that counts.

Galaxies has finally ceased to exist and officially shut down forever. This comes after the initial announcement in June, which stirred a lot of emotions within the community.

Despite the many sobbing, cursing and upset fans (or the one, either way,) Sony lost the Star Wars license and gave players six months to ween themselves of Galaxies and learn to love the Old Republic.

“On behalf of the Star Wars Galaxies team, thank you.” Sony Online Entertainment said in a statement on the website. “We have truly enjoyed getting to know you – our dedicated players – over the years. From in-game events to Fan Faires, we appreciate your continued loyalty and support. It would not have been possible without you."

I bet that girl is playing SW:TOR as we speak.
