Cobalt Now Available for Purchase as Playable Alpha

December 16, 2011 by Josh Harmon

Mojang’s first third-party release is now available to purchase and play.

Oxeye Games' robo-friendly platform shooter Cobalt has been released as a playable Alpha. The game marks the first third party release from Mojang AB, the company who created a little game Minecraft. Maybe you've, you know, heard of it.

Like it's multi-million selling big brother, Cobalt will gradually add content as the game progresses from Alpha into Beta and eventually a full release. This initial release features an early version of the game's campaign (both co-op and single player) and multiplayer modes, as well as a level editor.

Purchase early and you'll get the game at a steep discount, with future updates pushed to you at no extra charge. The current pricetag, good for as long as the game stays in Alpha, is €10 (around $13), but that will tick up to €15 once the game enters Beta and to €20 at full release.

If you're interested — and you definitely should be — you can grab the game from the official website right this very minute.
