V Rising Gets Halloween Update And Free Play Weekend

October 24, 2022 by Alexandra Nicholson

Play for free from October 28 to November1.

A new dev blog from Stunlock Studios has revealed some devilishly exciting new updates for the hit vampire game V Rising. The game launches its new “Bloodfeast” Halloween update today, which will get players well and truly in the mood for the frightful festivities ahead with some free content. Speaking of free, anyone who hasn’t had the chance to try out V Rising‘s popular open-world vampire survival antics yet can do so this coming weekend.

The game is hosting a free play weekend from October 28 to November 1 for newcomers to the world of Vardoran. As well as the free play event on Steam, V Rising will also be joining the Nvidia GeForce Now service on October 27, meaning that players on that platform will also be able to take advantage of the free weekend.

The game will also be getting a special server setting as part of the free Halloween update. This will be a new server preset called Mad Hunt, which will create some chaotic vibes in the game. Included as part of the Mad Hunt setting will be randomised spell unlocks, V Blood locations and V Blood technologies, which players will have to find around the map in various new locations. Stunlock Studios has clarified that with this specific server preset, specific technologies will still appear at certain points to prevent progression from getting frustrating for players. However aside from that, it’ll basically be a free-for-all where anything goes. Check out a preview of the Mad Hunt preset right here.

Players will be able to apply these randomisation settings in their own private servers if they don’t want to play on the Mad Hunt preset. V Rising will also be getting a number of bug fixes and balance tweaks to weapons and spells as part of today’s Halloween update.

In addition, all V Rising players will be able to get their hands on some seasonal DLC for free. Up for grabs is The Haunted Nights Castle DLC pack, which contains an assortment of Halloween-themed items and decorations. It’ll be available for players to claim from today until November 7. The special seasonal pack will give players plenty to create the spooky vampiric castle of their dreams with, thanks to the inclusion of the following items.

  • Haunted Nights Wall Decor (2x Wallpapers)
  • Haunted Nights Gourd Lanterns
  • Haunted Nights Stained Glass Window
  • Haunted Nights Carpets
  • Haunted Nights Floating Gourd
  • Haunted Nights Standing Mirror
  • Haunted Nights Skull Candles
  • Haunted Nights Laughing Pumpkin
  • Haunted Nights Grinning Pumpkin
  • Haunted Nights Wailing Pumpkin
  • Haunted Nights Web Drapes for Pillars, Walls, and Windows
  • Haunted Nights Coffin
  • Haunted Nights Small Stash

A bigger expansion for the hit title is in the works and will hopefully be released next year, to continue building on the success of the base game. V Rising is available now on PC via Steam Early Access. It’ll also be heading to GeForce Now on October 27.
