Closed Beta For Next PS4 System Update Approaches, Sign Up Now

February 17, 2016 by Holly Green

Grab your PlayStation master account and head over to the official site to sign up.

PlayStation 4
Sony is getting ready to release an update to the PlayStation 4 system software, and if you’d like to help them iron out the kinks, now is your chance. Set to roll out next month, a closed beta will soon be available to those scrappy would-be QA testers, with sign-ups opening today over at the official PlayStation website. Click here to begin the registration process. You will need a master PlayStation account in order to participate.

If you are one of the few chosen, the beta will begin in early March and you will receive an email confirming your status along with instructions for download. If as a closed beta tester you encounter issues and wish to return to the old system software, you will be able to go back to the old data at any time. For now Sony is mum on what new features will be tested within the beta, but they promise to reveal those details as the test launches. Those who are in the closed beta test can also join the PlayStation Forums to discuss the changes as well as discuss any bugs or glitches.

This is far from Sony’s first closed beta for testing new PlayStation 4 system software updates; only last September that had a closed beta that ultimately added a host of new community features like Now Playing, Events, and YouTube integration for posting game clips. While it is not known what they will be testing this time around, the last beta was released to the Japanese community before the rest of the world, and advance leaks gave us an idea of what to expect with the official update.
