Hideo Kojima’s Next Game Set to Star Elle Fanning

October 7, 2022 by John McDonald

And she won’t be alone!

Elle Fanning is set to star in Hideo Kojima’s next game

Hideo Kojima is an enigmatic video game designer, and a few of his games have gone down as some of the best games in history. Kojima is also known as someone who likes to use real-life actors in his games – just look at Death Stranding, whose protagonist is based on Norman Reedus. And it doesn’t stop there because Hideo Kojima’s next game is set to star Elle Fanning, with other actors being lined up as well.

Kojima has been teasing us with this news on Twitter since last month’s Tokyo Game Show, but it featured a blacked-out image of a mysterious woman with the caption “Who am I?” and now the cat is out of the bag, and it seems to be quite a coup, with Elle Fanning being on the brightest young talents in the industry.

It didn’t take people long before they began assuming that Fanning would be the mysterious woman in the silhouette, with eagle-eyed fans comparing images of the actor with the outline on the picture – how they could figure that out I don’t know, but who are we to question it?

But alas, the rumors were confirmed, and it was down to a QR code of all things, one that was displayed at PAX Australia. The QR code was posted on Twitter by Lance McDonald, and if you scanned the code, it would take you to an image on the Kojima Production website that revealed a picture of Fanning.

Not only that though because Kojima is also planning on incorporating a second woman into the game, and you guessed it, he’s already begun teasing us with another darkened image that says, “Who am I?”. Once again, fans have already started to make assumptions about who it could be, with the clear favorite being Margaret Qualley, who has already appeared in Death Stranding alongside Reedus.

However, these might sound like guesses, but there’s actually a little more evidence to support this theory. There was supposedly some leaked footage of Hideo Kojima’s next game, which has been dubbed “Overdose,” and Qualley was said to have starred in it.

Kojima appeared at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase in June to announce that he would be partnering with Xbox Game studios to develop a game that he’s always wanted to create, but certain limitations were stopping him from doing so. Kojima said, “It’s a completely new game, one that no one has ever experienced or seen before. I’ve waited a very long time for the day when I could finally start to create it.”

Time will only tell what the game will reveal to us, but going off all of these details, it sounds like it could be extremely promising. At least we know that the game will include a super talent like Elle Fanning, so everything else should fall into place.
