IO Interactive and Square Enix have released a trailer for Hitman’s upcoming beta. The trial begins on PlayStation 4 at 10:00 GMT (05:00 Eastern/02:00 Pacific) on Friday, February 12th and ends at 10:00 on Monday, February 15th. PC players will be able to join the beta from 10:00 on February 19th to 10:00 on February 22nd.
Both versions are said to be around 4.7GB in size and will allow players to explore the game’s Prologue. This part of Hitman takes place in a secret facility where the ICA recruits and trains agents. Players will discover how Agent 47 joined the organisation and experience his first encounter with Diana Burnwood, who goes on to be his handler.
Contracts Mode is not included in the beta and any progress you make will not transfer when the game’s first chapter goes live on March 11th.
Anyone who has pre-ordered a digital copy of Hitman’s Full Experience or Intro Pack via the PlayStation Store or PC will be able to join the beta. Alternatively, pre-ordering the game’s Collector’s Edition from the Square Enix Store also grants entry.
A physical version of Hitman will be released later in 2016 but Square Enix has confirmed on its website that pre-orders of the retail game will not offer access to the beta.
Hitman launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on March 11th, with additional episodes opening up new areas later in the year. PlayStation 4 players can also look forward to a series of exclusive contracts called the Sarajevo Six. You can find additional details of the game’s pre-order incentives here.
