Uncharted 3 Sells 3.8 Million Copies in One Day

November 10, 2011 by Josh Harmon

Nathan Drake’s latest adventure is on par to be the best selling in the trilogy.

Sony has announced that Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception sold over 3.8 million copies on its first day alone. The news came via a brief press release from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, which touted the game as a "true Blockbuster".

Those sales might not be quite as high as other big-name titles, but when you consider the fact that Uncharted 3 is one of the few remaining platform exclusives, those numbers are hardly anything to scoff at. In fact, they put the game well on track to become the best selling game in the franchise. Drake's Fortune has sold 3.77 million copies to date, while the sequel, Among Thieves, moved 4.94 million units.

Uncharted 3 has been getting a cozy reception from critics, currently holding an impressive 92 out of 100 on review aggregator Metacritic. Two of our own GameRanx staffers recently held an in-depth roundtable on the game's strengths and weaknesses.
