Rumor: Blizzard Lays Off Top Designer

November 8, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

Rumor has it that John Staats, a top designer at Blizzard, has been the victim of recent lay-offs at the company.

Rumor on the grapevine would have it that Blizzard has laid off John Staats, a primary designer on the company’s next major—and as yet unannounced—franchise, Titan.

Little to nothing is known about the game, save for the fact that it is an MMORPG designed to surpass the likes of World of Warcraft, and presumably pick up its reins.

Staats has been with Blizzard for over ten years, working on key titles like World of Warcraft as one of its primary designers.

The designer’s publicly available LinkedIn page betrays nothing of the supposed lay-off, but Massively reports otherwise.

According to a close inside source of our own, Titan has been in development since 2008. We’ll bring you more of the story as more details become available.
