Ni No Kuni Trailer Doesn’t Skimp on the Variety

November 4, 2011 by Josh Harmon

You’ll be encountering a lot of strange faces in Studio Ghibli and Level-5’s RPG collaboration.

With legendary animation house Studio Ghibli and stalwart JRPG developer Level-5 behind the upcoming Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, it's reasonable to expect the game to feature some imaginative things. Both collaborators have a history of building rich, beautiful worlds that burst at the seams with creativity. It's only reasonable that their combined efforts would be doubly impressive.

Even still, they've managed to cram Ni No Kuni full of more creative whimsy than I thought possible, as this new trailer for the game can attest. In just three minutes, we see genies, dragons, an oversized cat king, a ghost pirate, a gun that shoots hands, and countless other sights that defy explanation. I've never been so excited to have absolutely no idea what the hell is going on.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, a PlayStation 3 exclusive, launches in Japan on November 17, with a North American release slated for early next year.
