It seems highly unlikely that a racing game could also be one of the most highly anticipated multiplayer games, but given the amount of effort EA is putting into Need for Speed: The Run’s online aspects, we’re not surprised to read a spike in interest for the upcoming game on gaming forums.
Need for Speed: The Run’s multiplayer is hosted on a social networking service not unlike Battlefield 3’s Battlelog, appropriately named Autolog. You’ll vote on maps, gain levels and experience points, and unlock new vehicles as you engage in head to head races against other players.
A new trailer from EA shows us what finally looks like a serious contender to preexisting multiplayer racing games, many of which are bogged down by poor network support and lack of customizability.
Need for Speed: The Run is set for a PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 release, and is powered by the same engine that runs Battlefield 3.
