October 21, 2011 by Josh Harmon

The Renaissance assassin will be taking on the likes of Ivy and Voldo in the next iteration of Namco’s legendary fighter.

The Soul Calibur series has certainly known its share of quirky guest fighters, from Link and Spawn to Darth Vader and Yoda, and the upcoming fifth installment will be continuing that tradition with the inclusion of Ezio Auditore, from Ubisoft's popular Assassin's Creed franchise.

As you can see from his debut trailer, Ezio's appearance will be based off Brotherhood rather than the upcoming Revelations, and it sounds like they've even managed to nab the same voice actor. Though it looks like most of Ezio's fighting will be done with a sword, he'll also be sporting his trademark hidden blades, a crossbow, and presumably a few other highlights from his Renaissance arsenal.

There's no word on whether Ezio will be the only crossover character to make SCV's roster, but with a relatively modest lineup of 18 fighters currently confirmed, there's certainly room for that possibility.

Soul Calibur V launches early next year on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
