A New The Punisher Series Is To Be Announced At D23

August 1, 2022 by Faith Lane

We cannot have a watered down Punisher.

It is time to get hyped as rumors about Jon Bernthal returning as The Punisher are all over the internet. With everything that has been announced recently, it looks like it is a very good chance of this happening, especially after Charlie Cox’s new series as Matt Murdock was announced, Daredevil: Born Again. Rumors have it The Punisher is coming back, which is just in time for both the Daredevil reboot and the Thunderbolts movie. Jon Bernthal who is also known for his role as Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead is set to reprise the role of Frank castle.

This is not the first time we’ve heard rumors about the return of The Punisher but now seems like more a time where this will most likely happen. Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle was first introduced on Netflix in the second season of Daredevil, before he got his own series in 2017. The series was then canceled after two seasons in 2019 and was just recently this year moved to Disney+ where the reboot will most likely take place.

Jon Bernthal Wants To Return As The Punisher But Only If They Can “Do It Right”

Jon Berthnal has voiced wanting to return as The Punisher, especially in the MCU, but as long as things are kept grim and gritty. Let’s be honest, we cannot have a watered down version of The Punisher.

“So I was really grateful, respectful, and weary of the places where that role took me and the world in which I had to live in,” the actor said last year about his role as The Punisher. “That being said, that’s where that character needs to be. It needs to be a level of darkness. I think if there’s any let up on that character, you do a disservice to the character, to every iteration of the character, to every comic book that’s come before, and to all the unbelievable fans of the character. This character means so much to people in the military. So like I said before, it’s not about whether you do the character; it’s about whether you can do it right, and I’m only interested in doing it right.”

Rumors say that there will be an announced at the D23 Expo 2022 about The Punisher getting a reboot series. In the meantime, the first two seasons of The Punisher are on Disney+ now to stream anytime you’d like!
