When Does Hogwarts Legacy Come Out?

July 27, 2022 by Matt Cook

Here’s what we know.

Updated: August 12, 2022

Hogwarts Legacy has been one of the most highly anticipated games since its initial leak in 2018. The game ticks the boxes of many Harry Potter fans who have been waiting years for an in-depth single-player game set in the wizarding world. Hogwarts Legacy is the first major game set in the Wizarding World since the release of Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 all the way back in 2011.

As such, Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most hotly anticipated games of the year. However, with a completely new game that features characters mostly unknown from the Harry Potter films and books, there are a lot of questions about the upcoming title. Questions like, when does Hogwarts Legacy come out?

When does Hogwarts Legacy come out?

Hogwarts Legacy was initially slated to come out in 2022. Although, we never had a specific date attached to the game’s release. Instead, the development studio was giving a late 2022 launch window. That changed on August 12, 2022. After a period of silence, Hogwarts Legacy finally had an update that pushed the game to 2023. As it stands right now, the upcoming title release is now slated to launch on February 10, 2023. Fortunately, for fans who have been waiting on this game, it doesn’t appear to be too far out from their initial late 2022 launch window.

The reasoning behind the game being pushed back was to allow the studio more time to further polish. Developers are hopeful to bring out an experience that will please fans who’ve been waiting on Hogwarts Legacy since its initial reveal. For now we at least know when to mark our calendars for when we’re able to dive into this thrilling new game set within the Harry Potter universe. Meanwhile, if you were wondering just what platforms this upcoming title will be available on, we know that Hogwarts Legacy will be available for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and the Xbox Series X/S platforms. That’s fortunate news for players that might not have made the jump to the latest generation of console platforms.

While we wait for the game release to approach, take a look at the game trailer down below. This trailer offers players not only a look into the game’s visuals, but also the gameplay experience as well. Although, you will want to make note that this game footage is captured on PlayStation console platforms.
