Bless Becomes First Unreal Engine 3 Powered MMORPG

October 19, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

Bless, a Korean game rom Neowiz, is the first MMORPG to use Epic’s Unreal Engine 3.

Epic Games has announced a partnership with Korean publisher Neowiz to supply them with support for the Unreal Engine 3, to power the Korean MMORPG, Bless.

Bless is the first Unreal Engine 3-powered MMO, which features a medieval-fantasy setting in a world plunged into all out war. The game contains ten races, split into two factions, Hierapolis and Cosmopolis. Like just about every warring faction in history, they are unable to reconcile their religious and philosophical differences and thus go to war.

With over 150 developers, the game has been in development since 2009, and has only just now been given an official announcement. According to the press release, the game uses every aspect of the Unreal Engine 3, down to facial animations and digital modeling. It also uses a landscaping tool for the game’s organic environments.

Further details on the game’s inevitable Beta test and release are still pending. We’ll fill you in on the details when we get them.
