Following earlier reports and rumors that firing a weapon without a suppressor would flag you on the game's mini-map in Battlefield 3, the game's community manager Ian "Crash7800" Tornay has come out with an official statement to debunk the rumor.
According to DICE, which is developing the upcoming multiplayer-heavy FPS, only spotting will cause you to be flagged or marked on the map. Firing your weapon without a flash suppressor or silencer will not reveal your position to other players on the map—although the muzzle flash will certainly reveal your position visually.
Battlefield 3 is set to release on October 25 for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
