Why Uncharted 3 DLC Won’t Be Single Player

October 15, 2011 by Patricia Hernandez

Why spend time on DLC when they could just make a whole new game?

Games these days do not launch without DLC, it seems–and that'll certainly be the case for Uncharted 3. DLC has been confirmed to be in the pipeline post-launch. While we don't know exactly what that DLC will be, we can guarantee you one thing: it won't be for single player mode.

Speaking to Eurogamer in an interview, game director Justin Richmond explained why Uncharted 3 will not be receiving single player DLC support.

"Whenever we sit down and think we should do some single-player DLC, someone pitches something and we realize – that's a five hour level. We'd rather build out another game than we would do episodic content, " says Richmond.

When you look at their team size, it makes sense, too. Naughty Dog is small, after all. "That's why we don't do it. We'd much rather be working on the next game, producing the game quickly and having people play another adventure."

Sounds good to me–it's not as if the industry has any shortage of DLC to purchase!
