Check Out This Stop Motion Animation Video Of Super Mario Bros. Level 1-1…On A Cake

There have been many ambitious Mario cakes over the years but this one takes the er, um, cake.

In the past six years I’ve spent reporting video game news, it’s never not been a joke that games journalists are just bloggers who post a lot of Mario cakes. And yet, I can’t help but admire the Mario cake to end all Mario cakes: this ambitious stop motion animation version depicting our titular hero making a run through Level 1-1 in the original Super Mario Bros. game. Made by YouTube’s Game Boy Media, it’s weird, it’s mouthwatering, it’s worth watching. Check it out in the video above, with a behind the scenes video below.
