Dota 2 2016 Winter Pass Out Now, Is Massive

January 27, 2016 by Stephen Daly

The pass costs $7.99 and brings a lot of changes.

Valve has announced that the Winter 2016 Battle Pass for Dota 2 is available now and costs $7.99.

Players will be able to level up their Battle Pass by completing in-game quests and by wagering on matches to score Battle Points. You'll be able to see what you've collected in the gallery of Rewards, which includes numerous exclusive features for the season.

Wagering is done with Tokens, which are awarded each week. When you place a wager and win the match you'll earn additional Battle Points. Victory doubles your wager in Battle Points, while defeat sees your Tokens distributed among your enemies.

Before each match you'll choose one of three paths to determine your current objective, by completing the objective and winning the match, you'll earn Battle Points to ensure your teasure stash is nice and full. The paths available are tailored to your chosen role, and you'll have the option to change your selection during the picking stage of each match in order to match the needs of every game. By finishing the final quest on each path you'll unlock a Completion Reward unique to that path and a Community Unlock style upgrade when 250,000 players have completed the each path, which are Solo, Support, and Carry.

The Battle Pass also features the 2016 Shanghai Major Compendium, which has been released in anticipation of the upcoming championship at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. The Compendium will offer news and information on events at the games, as well as team profiles, tournament predicitions, recaps of the road to the Major.

One new feature being introduced is the Conduct Summary, which lets you see how many abandons, reports, and commendations you've picked up during your last 25 games. The Summary will also indicate the percentage of the community with similar stats to your own.

As you might expect from a Winter Pass, the season is reflected in the game with snow being available to all Pass holders until it expires. Radiant, Dire, and neutral creeps will also be affected by frostbite. There are four new Winter Treasures, including a unique Ultra Rare, and the chances of receiving an Ultra Rare item from a Winter 2016 Treasure now increase with each one you open.

A range of Winter Achievements, viewable in the Battle Pass's Achievement tab, have been added as well.

The three month trade delay has been removed from all items included in this Battle Pass.

You can find patch notes for the new update on the game's Steam page. For more on the content in the Winter Pass, head here.
