LEGO Confirms Mighty Bowser Set That Can Shoot Fireballs

July 7, 2022 by Samantha Giambra-Plaisance

After rumors of an 18+ Super Mario LEGO set circulated back in April of 2022, LEGO has officially confirmed Mighty Bowser.

Back in April of 2022, rumors were going around about a Super Mario LEGO Set that would be the most significant Super Mario Lego set to date. Those rumors have now been confirmed by LEGO, stating that the Mighty Bowser set will sport a massive height of 12.5 inches (32cm). The set contains 2,807 pieces, making it the largest Super Mario LEGO sets to date.

The LEGO set has triggered nostalgia in gamers, bringing back fond memories of their legendary boss fights against the well-known character. This monumental set will cost a whopping $269.99 and has some intense features that make it worth the price. Bowser’s mouth, legs, tail, neck, head, and arms are all moveable! Moving his neck and head just takes a simple press of a button. LEGO even included a fireball launcher in Bowser’s head, and though it isn’t entirely clear how to activate it yet, it is still insanely cool.

“Adding LEGO Super Mario The Mighty Bowser really is a blast from the past for many adult fans of LEGO. He might be the big boss, but he still brings back a warm feeling of nostalgia to adult Super Mario fans worldwide. Just as defeating Bowser was always the ultimate challenge in the Super Mario games, here we’re challenging fans to build the King of the Koopas from nearly 3,000 pieces. We know they’re up to the task and will be chomping at the bit to get their hands on this great new addition to the Super Mario line.”

— Carl Merriam, Senior Designer, LEGO Super Mario

The set includes a fun-sized portion of the infamous Bowser Castle stage, adding to the complexity of the collection. As with many of the LEGO Super Mario sets, they have added some kind of interactive element, stating in their press release, “Fans that own a LEGO Super Mario Starter Course can choose to battle Bowser against LEGO Mario, Luigi or Peach, allowing for truly immersive and digitally enhanced play.” This is a great way to take the LEGO set to a new level of play.

The set also has two towers for Bowser to knock over, a hidden POW block, and a thorough step-by-step guide. The Mighty Bowser Super Mario LEGO Set will be available to purchase on October 1, 2022.
