The Banner Saga Now Has a PS4 and Xbox One Release Date

December 16, 2015 by Stephen Daly

You won’t have to wait long.

Publisher Versus Evil has announced that The Banner Saga will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 12th, 2016.

Versus Evil describes the game as a mix of Disney, Game of Thrones, and Mass Effect and announced on the PlayStation Blog that the game will be localised in a number of languages, including French, German, Spanish, and Italian.

While we don't yet have any footage of the two year old PC game running on console, the publisher says "John Watson [programmer and co-founder of developer Stoic] has been working on porting the game to consoles for quite a while. The process involved not only getting Banner Saga playable on consoles, but redesigning the user experience to better fit PS4 and its controller."

The Banner Saga offers turn-based combat and a choose your own adventure style narrative. The game was developed on the back of a Kickstarter campaign in 2013 and performed well enough to ensure a trilogy. A second instalment is due in 2016 and saves from the first game will carry over.
