Turok Remaster By Night Dive Releasing This Week

December 15, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

You can bet there are some fans hoping this remaster could hit a Nintendo platform, but what gamers can get now isn’t too bad.

Night Dive Studios has revealed release details for their remaster of Turok.

Iguana Entertainment’s 1997 shooter did release on Windows alongside Nintendo 64, but it’s the Nintendo 64 version that fans remember fondly. That’s because it was one of the first shooters to get FPS on consoles right. Even though the Windows version was objectively better, the Nintendo 64 version was the one fans remember the most.

In hindsight, that will only make this remaster look better. Since Night Dive’s remaster is based on the Windows version, the base game does not have the compromises the Nintendo 64 version made. Night Dive’s improvements smoothed out the graphics, provide a consistent framerate, and generally make the game a better experience. You can bet there are some fans hoping this remaster could hit a Nintendo platform, but what gamers can get now isn’t too bad.

Turok will be released on December 17, for Steam, GOGcom, and Humble. You can read the official press release below and watch the trailer above.

Turok is back and no dinosaur is safe! When it was first released in 1997, Turok introduced gamers to a world teeming with cunning enemies, traps, puzzles and deadly weapons all within a vast 3D environment ready to explore. Now the classic game has been restored and enhanced with a new visual engine and exciting new features to sink your teeth into!
