Space Marine’s Free Exterminatus DLC Dated

October 7, 2011 by Josh Harmon

Fans will get access to the brand new four-player co-op mode on October 25.

The first DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, Exterminatus, has its release date: October 25. The download will be available simultaneously on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, carrying an unbeatable price tag of nothing.

Exterminatus adds support for four-player online co-op to Space Marine in the form of a brand new game mode. You and up to three of your friends will be tasked with holding off waves of Orks and the Forces of Chaos. You'll also be competing against the leaderboards to set a high score, with multipliers and dynamic challenges adding to the fun. In a nice touch, character progression will be shared with the game's competitive multiplayer, meaning you'll be able to equip the same perks and level the same character no matter what mode you're playing.

Exterminatus will be launching with just two scenarios, Assault on Hab Center Andreas and Escape from Kalkys Facility, but Relic promises that more DLC packs are on the way. Future add-ons probably won't be totally free, but they might include both a free and paid component.
