Gone Home Coming To PS4, Xbox One January; No Comment On Wii U Version

December 8, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

For now, PS4 and Xbox One owners can look forward to a reworked version of the game, with 90 minutes of commentary.

Nine months after revealing console ports were cancelled, The Fullbright Company and Majesco imprint Midnight City have revealed that Gone Home is finally coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

In a new video, Steve Gaynor revealed that the game has been rebuilt from the ground up, switching from Unity 4 to Unity 5, and adding in 90 minutes of developer commentary. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports of Gone Home will be released on January 12.

Now, you may be wondering about the Wii U version, and this is the curious part since Midnight City originally announced the Wii U version first. Fullbright has chosen not to comment, simply stating that they are focused on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for now.

Of course, no comment does not mean it’s been cancelled completely, and with Minecraft Wii U Edition looming it’s not hard to imagine it will receive a later version as well. Fullbright did use the same language when they initially revealed all console versions of the game were cancelled, due to then reported financial troubles within Majesco.

@DonaldMick @broodwars64 yeah we're only doing XB1/PS4 versions at this point

If a Wii U version is planned in the future, it would also need to be reworked from the ground up. This isn’t just to fit the console’s hardware specs, but to accommodate extra use of the Gamepad. For now, however, if you do own a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you can look forward to playing it soon.

Are you getting Gone Home for consoles this January? Share your thoughts with us in the comments. You can watch the announcement trailer above.
