One of the hardest things for a gamer to do is to wait–especially when a game is almost certainly on the horizon. 2022 has seen plenty of those games between the three main publishers, with one of the most highly-anticipated being Santa Monica Studio’s God Of War Ragnarok.
The 2018 smash-hit God Of War gave Kratos a new look and personality on the PlayStation 4, also giving him a son. It delved into Norse mythology in a deeper way and added fresh life to the game as a whole, with players quickly becoming obsessed, calling it one of the best games ever made–period.
While audiences have been aware of God Of War Ragnarok for a long time, no release date has been officially announced. However, a post on Reddit recently noted that official merch for the game has been revealed online, listed as being released in October 2022. To be fair, it does say that this date is subject to change, but many believe that this could be a major hint for the sequel’s release date.
Sony as a whole has been VERY quiet about the release date/window, so until anything is officially confirmed, don’t get your hopes up.
Here’s the official synopsis for the title:
“From Santa Monica Studio comes the sequel to the critically acclaimed God of War (2018). Kratos and Atreus must journey to each of the Nine Realms in search of answers as they prepare for the prophesied battle that will end the world. Together, Kratos and Atreus venture deep into the Nine Realms in search of answers as Asgardian forces prepare for war. Along the way they will explore stunning, mythical landscapes, gather allies from across the realms, and face fearsome enemies in the form of Norse gods and monsters. As the threat of Ragnarok grows ever closer, Kratos and Atreus find themselves choosing between the safety of their family and the safety of the realms…”
