League of Legends Getting New Loot And Crafting Systems, But Not If You’re Toxic

November 25, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Riot Games plans does not necessarily inspire confidence.

Riot Games has revealed a surprising new penalty they will be implementing on League of Legends.

The developer is planning to add a new loot system for all players. This system will be Riot’s way of giving away skins for free. There will also be a new crafting system alongside loot, which will allow players to trade in any drops they didn’t like for something else.

So, here’s the twist. If Riot Games decides that a player is a repeat offender for toxic behavior, he or she will be locked out of both loot and crafting. Riot has kept toxic players away from getting rewards before, but not to the extent that full gaming features are gone.

Riot has indicated they have yet to iron out the details, and that’s where the problem lies. We already know Riot has implemented psychological test questions into their feedback systems, without seeming rhyme or reason.

Of course, it’s good that a developer cares so much about reducing toxicity in their community, especially for a game as competitive as a MOBA, but this announcement doesn’t inspire confidence. I think they could stand to be more open and allow the community more of a say in how they go about managing player toxicity.
