Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness Getting PC Release

November 16, 2015 by Michael Fossbakk

Will include Etna mode.

A re-release of Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, which was a PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS re-release of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness (originally released on PlayStation 2) is coming to PC February 2016, developer Nippon Ichi Software, Inc. has announced.

Dubbed Disgaea PC, the strategy role-playing game will include all content from Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, including Etna mode, which allowed players to play the game from the perspective of Etna, a main character of the game’s story, which is normally played from Laharl’s perspective. Disgaea PC will also include updated UI and textures, keyboard/mouse and gamepad support, and Steam-specific features, such as Steam achievements, cloud saves, badges, and trading cards.

According to the game’s Steam page, the PC requirements are very mild by today’s hardware standards. At most, PC players will need an Intel Core i5-2500 at 3.30 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, an Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 or ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5750, and 2 GB of hard drive space.

In Disgaea PC, players play as Laharl, demon prince of the Netherworld, which has been turned upside down after the death of Laharl’s father, Overlord Krichevskoy. Laharl unites with vassal Etna and an angel named Flonne to fight his way through the Netherworld and retake the throne as Overlord of the Netherworld.

The most recent entry in the Disgaea series, Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance, was released on PlayStation 4 in Japan on March 26, 2015. The game was later released in North America and Europe last month.
