Korean MMORPG Blade & Soul will have its second closed beta this weekend, with NCSOFT showcasing the existence of cat pals as a way to entice would-be players.
Known as a familiar, a summoner’s companion follows the summoner everywhere and fights alongside their summoner. Summoners and their companions are the best at transferring health from enemies to themselves, making for a class that serves as a great introduction to Blade & Soul. The developer notes on its official website however, that mastering the summoner is still difficult because of its “wide range of tactics and abilities.”
Other classes available in Blade & Soul are blade master, destroyer, force master, kung fu master, assassin, and blade dancer. The game also features four races: the Dragon energy-infused Gon, the wise Jin, the all-female Yun, and the Lyn, whose defining characteristic are their large animal-like ears.
The second closed beta for Blade & Soul will take place this weekend, beginning Friday, Nov. 13 and ending Sunday, Nov. 16. The first closed beta was held Halloween weekend. Buying the Founder’s Pack, another form of pre-purchasing the game, will be able to play in every beta weekend event leading up to Blade & Soul’s launch on PC early next year.
