HBO’s The Last of Us Series is Set to Feature Appearances From Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson

June 11, 2022 by Chelsea Beardsmore

Joel and Ellie will reunite once again.

Neil Druckmann, co-president over at Naughty Dog, has revealed more details regarding HBO’s upcoming The Last of Us TV adaptation.

Taking to the stage at this years Summer Game Fest, neil Druckmann not only shared a new still from the show, which you can see above, that shows a face shot of Ellie and Joel, but he also shared the news that the voices of Joel and Ellie themselves, Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, will be making their very own appearances in the series.

It has not been revealed as of yet exactly what these roles will be, and whether or not they will be one-off appearances or if they will play a long-running part in the show, but it’s still an awesome treat for fans of the games.

Much about the TV adaption has been kept quiet, so we are not entirely sure exactly how much it will relate to the video game series, with Joel’s actor Pedro Pascal already stating that he didn’t want to imitate the character too much.

There’s a very, very creative way of honouring what’s important and also preserving what is iconic to the experience of the video game, and also [to include] things that you wouldn’t necessarily expect. And then directions that you would expect it to go, and it might not… they’re doing some really smart things, is all I can say. It’s similar to the way Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni treat The Mandalorian, in how [Mazin and Druckmann] are treating The Last of Us — it’s in good hands because they love it so much. Well, clearly Neil created the video game, but Craig loves it so much. So it really is made for the people that love it. And there’s some very intense storytelling for people who might be less familiar.

The Last of Us is due to premier on HBO Max in 2023, and with filming recently wrapped up, we are super excited to see it.
