Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 Shambles Forward to February

November 5, 2015 by Stephen Daly

Pre-orders will get the Grass Effect Z7 mech and an emoji pack.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 will be released on Febraury 23rd, 2016. The date is earlier than originally expected, with the game now filling the slot recently vacated by Mirror's Edge Catalyst, which was delayed to May.

The game is the first in the series in which the zombies are in control of Suburbia and it's the turn of the plants to go on the offensive.

Those who pre-order will get access to the Mass Effect crossover Grass Effect Z7-Mech once they start the game. The mech comes with the melee Zomni-tool, kinetic padding, and a biotic ability ‘Pull’ to draw plants closer to attack. Pre-orders will also see you receive a pack containing 14 new emoji-style accessories to customise the various character classes.

“At PopCap, we love to excite our fans, and couldn’t be more ready and thrilled to bring Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 into their hands earlier than expected,” creative director Justin Wiebe said. “From the immersive worlds and the crazy characters, to the new ways to play such as Backyard Battleground, we’re incredibly proud of the game we’re building. This is a crazy shooter filled with fan-requested features as well as all-new experiences that will make this unlike any other game in the genre.”

New additions to the game include the Herbal Assault 24-player mode and the 4-player co-op Graveyard Ops. There's also six new character classes and 12 original maps.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
