Rocket League Receiving New Custom Game Types in Free Nov. Update

October 28, 2015 by Michael Fossbakk

Ready for “Moonball?”

New custom game types are coming to Rocket League in a free update next month, developer Psyonix announced today.

“Want to play low-gravity ‘Moonball’ with extra boost?” the developer wrote on the PlayStation Blog. “It’s possible! Want to relive classic Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars game modes like ‘Cubic’ and ‘Time Warp?’ You can!”

The new game types are being introduced via a feature Psyonix calls “Mutators,” which are essentially gameplay modifiers that players can customize to their liking to create entirely new, custom game types. Psyonix will also be adding a “Mutator Mashup” playlist that will allow players try out a variety of new game types that were created using the new Mutators.

Players can check out the new update for themselves when it goes live for free in November, but Psyonix will be holding a livestream tomorrow, Oct. 29, at 5 p.m. ET on their Twitch channel that will show off the new update. Additionally, the developer will conduct an “Ask Me Anything” Q&A thread on Reddit on Nov. 3 at 4 p.m. ET.

This month, Psyonix released a piece of DLC called Revenge of the Battle-Cars for $4 on PC and PlayStation 4, whereas November’s “Mutator” update will be free of charge.
