Crystal Dynamics Details Geurilla Combat In New Tomb Raider Video

October 28, 2015 by Carlos Chism

Lara will learn to use her environment to her advantage.

In the second entry in their Woman Vs Wild series, titled “Guerilla Combat”, Crystal Dynamics reveals new gameplay aspects for their upcoming title. If you can’t wait until Rise of the Tomb Raider comes out next month, here’s something new to tide you over. The video shows how Lara can utilize new guerilla combat tactics. Some of what is revealed in the video has been shown previously, while some aspects are new.

The video discusses how Lara will have choice in her combat style. Crystal Dynamics seems to recommend players stick to the shadows, using a non-lethal approach that allows them to sneak by enemies by using distractions. Vantage points are also helpful in executing stealthy takedowns. When combat is unavoidable, there are many guns Lara can use. The video discusses how each weapon has unique upgrades and modifications.

In terms of skills, the video discusses two upgrade trees in detail. For players interested in a heavy-handed, melee approach, the Brawler tree will suit their needs. For long-range sniper types itching to use the bow and arrow, the Hunter tree will work. While the Survivor skill upgrade option is briefly shown, it is not discussed in the video.

The video finally shows off the on-the-fly crafting system, displaying how Lara can salvage materials and put them together during combat. Weapons shown include Molotov cocktails, a variety of grenades, along with poison, fire, and explosive arrows.

The next episode of Woman Vs. Wild will take a look at the different tombs found in the game. You can take a look at nine more minutes of gameplay here.

Rise of the Tomb Raider releases for Xbox One on November 10th, 2015.
