Hideo Kojima has Left Konami and Kojima Productions

Oct 19, 2015 Stephen Daly

Kojima has a non-compete clause with Konami until December, however.

Hideo Kojima has left Konami and his studio, Kojima Productions, a report in the New Yorker says.

Acccording to the report, Kojima left the company earlier this month, on October 9th. The New Yorker's source says they attended departure ceremony that day for Kojima, who worked with Konami for nearly 30 years.

Konami has not yet responded to media requests for confirmation. This story will be updated should they issue a comment.

The New Yorker adds that Kojima is still bound by a non-compete clause, which expires in December. The details of the contract are not known but he will likely have to wait for several months until he can sign with another studio.

News of Kojima's difficulties with Konami surfaced earlier this year. Kojima's name and the Kojima Productions logo were removed from the box of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain at one point, while Silent Hills was cancelled.
