InXile Entertainment has released a new video for Torment: Tides of Numenera containing gameplay from the game’s alpha state that highlights its Crisis scenarios and the multiple outcomes.
In the video, lead Crisis designer Jeremy Kopman walks the viewer through a typical Crisis encounter. These scenarios can be played out in a number of different ways from pure combat, to pure dialogue, to fleeing from battle, and more. The video shows several of these scenarios and even rewinds itself to view a different outcome of the same scenario multiple times.
Not only do party members and their enemies on the field control the tide of battle, but so does the environment itself. Characters can interact with the environment to provide buffs to party members and, in the case of this scenario, parts of the environment (the lightbridges) can explode and cause damage to characters on the field.
Torment: Tides of Numenera was successfully funded on Kickstarter in 2013. Initially it was set to be released in December, 2014, but was delayed to late this year. A specific release date has not yet been announced by developer inXile. Gameplay for Tides of Numenera was released just over a year ago and to learn more about the game’s development, be sure to check out our interview with inXile’s Brian Fargo.
