Live A Live has been doing a really good job of setting up the various storylines of the game. If you don’t recall, the game will feature you playing as seven different characters throughout history, each with their own stories and battles to fight. As of late, they’ve been dropping a quite a few character trailers, and that hasn’t stopped now. Because they’ve now dropped a trailer set in the “near future” with an “outsider” that you’ll be playing via Akira. …no anime jokes please, it’s too obvious, especially since he rides a bike in the trailer!

Anyway…we find out that Akira (in the game…) has a very special ability, the ability to read minds, and you’ll be using that on your quest to stop an evil plot involving a kidnapping, a steel titan, a dark god, and more! Along the way, you’ll meet up with a “former gangster with a heart of gold”, and a…turtle reborn as a robot? Yeah, that’s pretty unique.

You’ll have to fight battles as a team, as well as potentially get into mechs to fight the final boss of your time period! And remember, this is the “near future”, which says a lot about what the team felt the “near future” would be like.

Regardless, what this really shows is that Live A Live is going as far and as vast as they can with their stories in order to ensure that every single one is different from the other. And they are living up to that promise so far. We’ve seen a shinobi trying to save Japan, a martial arts master from China trying to find his successor, an outlaw trying to save a small town from bandits, and more are on the way!

And you’ll get to play them all when the game releases on Nintendo Switch on July 22nd.
