This War of Mine’s Latest Update Lets Players Share Scenarios on Steam Workshop

October 6, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

New modding capabilities have been added to This War of Mine.

This War of Mine, the bleak survivor simulation in which players oversee the survival of several individuals trapped in a warzone, has just received the "New Beginning" update, bringing the game up to version 1.4.

The update introduces the ability for players to share their created scenarios through Steam Workshop, and paves the way for enhanced modding tools that the developers are currently working on. The update will allow players to experience a massive collection of personalized stories made by players from around the world.

Creative Director Michal Drozdowski says, "This is just the beginning, with additional tools being developed that will give almost unlimited possibilities for the modding scene. We know it’s a challenge."

"After all, This War of Mine tackles serious topics and exposes genuine emotions, and since we're going to open up the game, many new types of war stories will appear. Yes, some of them will undoubtedly be silly, but I cannot wait to see those that approach the tragedy of war in a respectful way. I’m sure people have thousands of great scenarios in their heads and soon they will be able to bring them to life.”

In addition to these modding capabilities, the storytelling possibilities within the game's Scenario Editor are being expanded with new, more diverse characters and additional language support for Turkish, Korean and Japanese.

It's out now on Steam.
