Super Smash Bros Update Adds Super Mario Maker Stage, Monster Hunter Costumes, And More

Sep 30, 2015 Ryan Parreno

You can now play as the punky brewster Viridi in a swordfighter costume

Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS just received its latest big update, with a host of new stages and costumes available for purchase.

First off, if you own the game on 3DS, the Duck Hunt stage was just added to that version. It was already available on the Wii U version, and in both cases you get it gratis.

Highlights for the new paid DLC include:

Super Mario Maker stage – As promised earlier, this stage switches around the course elements as the Maker hand (no relation to Master Hand) keeps coming in to return blocks you or opponents destroyed.

Pirate Ship stage – this is another fan favorite stage, coming back from Super Smash Bros Brawl. Unfortunately, this one is only available on Wii U.

Viridi Swordfighter costume – While the spunky eight year old is more magician than swordswoman, this spunky brewster made an impact with Kid Icarus Uprising fans.

Rathalos & Monster Hunter costumes – These should not need explaining, but of course, Monster Hunter has acclimated itself completely as a 3DS franchise. Monster Hunter4 itself rivals Super Smash Bros in popularity on 3DS, so this seemed more a matter of when than if.

Also available are these other Mii Fighter costumes:

  • Captain Falcon (Brawler)
  • Fox McCloud (Gunner)
  • Toad (Brawler)
  • Business Suit

Stages cost $ 1.99 each, and costumes $ 0.75 each, for each console, and $ 3.49 each stage and $ 1.15 if bought for both 3DS and Wii U.

Check out a trailer of the costumes in action above.
